I have a real weak spot for the illustrations of today’s contributor, Blanca Gómez. I’ve been a huge fan of her work for many, many, many years! And some of her illustrations are among my all-time favorites! I love the way she combines mid-century touches with a European flair. Her drawings are so stylish, but still warm and welcoming! In Blanca’s illustrated world, ordinary objects like balloons, books, and guitars become elegant treasures!
After working as a graphic designer for nearly ten years, Blanca decided to leave her job, so she could focus on illustration full-time. Since then, she has created all kinds of charming images for clients such as Vanity Fair, Real Simple, and Tiffany & Co. She has also illustrated numerous children’s books and has a card line through Red Cap Cards. Have a peek at her website for more and visit her Etsy shop for lots and LOTS of lovely prints! Thanks, Blanca! ~Erin
Lately, I’ve been listening a lot to Elizabeth Cotten. Here she is on Pete Seeger's Rainbow Quest. (It's the closest thing to a podcast that I've ever listened to.)
I read this one some time ago, but I have to mention it.
Wake in Fright by Kenneth Cook (Also, his three books of short stories. They are really funny.)
My Dinner with Andre by Louis Malle
